The BerryJoyful interior is wrapping up next week with a final installation in the Office. From our first visit to the house, we instantly bonded with the woman who owns this property. She was wearing her signature color, pink, and was so welcoming and Joyful to be around that it felt as if we were long time friends. She was excited to finally have her home reflect her personality and update the overall functionality. Her style is vibrant, sophisticated, modern with a touch of traditional, she has a beautiful art collection, loves color with the exception of her tranquil master bathroom. 

This 1946 home is located in Denver, Colorado and while some of renovation was merely cosmetic there were also nonfunctioning bathrooms, fireplace and a new lighting plan. The design process began with contractor specifications and went through the full design process of styling and accessorizing. Today we are sharing project insight and we even added a few links to our favorite pieces in the finished photos. 

We kicked off this project in the guest bathroom and kitchen. These two spaces were completed in two days and allowed the client to enjoy a few spaces while renovation was occurring in other areas of the home. The guest bathroom was updated with a prefabricated vanity, floating shelving, new shower head, a fresh coat of paint and a mirror flanked with light pink pendants. The kitchen countertops were replaced with a white organic quartz and new pendants were added. Since there are only two bathrooms in this home it was important to have the guest bathroom fully functional prior to the master bathroom renovation.  

As mentioned above the lighting plan for this home started off in those rooms but required changes throughout the entire home. If you are looking at the before photos and wondering why there was track lighting in every room, it was previously owned by an artist who used his home to display his art. Not only was it not aesthetically pleasing but it caused flickering, humming, and there were burn marks on the ceiling. The new plan required a ton of electrical work that you can't see in these photos along with removing the track lighting, adding recessed cans, and new statement fixtures. 

The project then moved up to the master bathroom. This is the only room in the home that required going down to the studs. There was a cracked / leaking shower pan, the tub required a ton of water to fill, the jets no longer worked, only cold water came out of the sinks, and she needed extra storage. The first design included pops of color and after our first review it transitioned to evoke a tranquil aesthetic. We also presented a few cabinetry layouts during the design process; the chosen design maximizes the storage space and still feels airy and open. Even though the freestanding tub is breathtaking our favorite part of this room was knowing that it had a huge impact on our client's wellbeing. No longer retreating to the guest bathroom she can now start her day off enjoying her calm master suite.

While our client was away, it was all hands on deck between our team and the General Contractor to make sure all necessary items were completed, and the home was ready for her return. While she was away the floors were refinished on the main level, the master flooring and staircase was replaced with matching wood, treads and risers. The column on the staircase was wrapped with board and batten molding, a new handrail and contemporary balusters. As well as, the majority of the trim, wall repair and painting.

After two weeks, she returned home to a fully installed guest room while the other items were wrapped up. The final items were the fireplace, wine refrigerator, partition wall, wallpaper installation in her office and statement light fixtures. The gas fireplace was replaced with an electric insert and now extends into the room with a traditional board and batten design. The delicate floral tile helps merry the other modern elements in the room. She requested additional wine storage and when we saw the collection, we knew it was an important element for the design. This custom refrigerator has the capacity to hold 156 bottles of wine and is adorned with rattlesnake white leather pulls. The second floor of the home is an open concept master suite that also functions as a home gym. We separated the spaces with a serene lattice partition wall. And the final item installed was the coral dot wallpaper in the home office bookshelves. 

At the same time, we were finalizing the furniture, decor, and adjusting art placement throughout the home. There was a delicate balance to the amount of color we added to each room. We made sure it complimented the artwork and cohesively transitioned. The Berry fabric selected for the dining room chairs was actually one of the last items selected and one of our favorite pieces in the home.
