In January, we shared quite a few photos of this project on social media. The project started last November when we were experiencing long shipping delays and contractors were overwhelmed. Our clients were able to accept large delivery items and had all of the electrical work completed early on. The work on the fireplace just wrapped up and pulled together the full design.
The before photos show the furniture they moved from their previous home. And even though this home is a new build they didn't have the opportunity to pick out all the finished materials, so we had some flexibility to switch out the builder pendants and add additional lighting in the eat in kitchen.
Another thing to note in the before photos is the fireplace. The original mantel was drywall and the area to the left of the fireplace has an air duct going across the top of it and the gas turnoff located on that side. When the contractor added the wood stack they built a wood shelf so they would be able to easily remove a few logs to access and turn off the gas if necessary.
The design aesthetic for this home is modern rustic with a touch of modern farmhouse. The style is warm with rich neutral textures, mixed metals, reclaimed wood and bold pops of black. It is an open concept floorplan that is very welcoming when you enter the home and truly feels like home.
